Support Group Videos

Welcome to BEHIND THE HEADLINES, an 18-chapter video series developed to offer life-lesson information, education, inspiration, and practical resources for individuals experiencing mental health challenges, as well as their families and friends who provide support.
On March 22, 2001, Tim Reside, President of Bright Tomorrows, discussed his experiences with mental illness at a conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Following the event, an editor from the Tulsa World conducted an interview and obtained permission to publish Tim’s story and photograph. The interview was featured on the front page under the banner “Saddling Mood Swings,” attracting public attention.
Tim has lived with bipolar disorder since 1979 and has been married to Nancy since 1971. Despite his stable public image, the Resides argue that appearances can differ from daily realities. This led them to propose to the Bright Tomorrows board the production of BEHIND THE HEADLINES, a series highlighting their mental health journey and the life lessons learned through their integration of God-centered faith and use of clinically informed strategies.
These eighteen video chapters share personal experiences and are not intended as clinical advice. The content is presented for informational purposes and should not be considered medical guidance or endorsement of specific treatments. Tim Reside does not hold professional credentials; he relies on professional counsel and treatment for his own health. Viewers are advised to consult qualified healthcare providers regarding medical decisions.
Over the years, Tim has utilized various resources during his mental health journey and through facilitating support groups and coaching sessions. The primary resource referenced in these lessons is the work of the Grace Alliance (Mental Health Grace Alliance) in Waco, Texas. Details regarding this organization and its available resources can be located by conducting a Google search for “Mental Health Grace Alliance Resources.”
Syllabi in PDF form are available with video chapters three through eighteen. Each chapter will be about forty-five minutes in length. For questions or comments, please visit our website’s “Contact” page to send an email to Tim Reside. He will reply.
