Scripture encourages us to “be quick to listen and slow to speak” (James 1:19). It is estimated that there are 50,000 speech courses in U.S. colleges every year, but roughly only a couple of hundred listening courses. Further, it is estimated that, except when preaching or lecturing, 45% to 75% of our time is spent listening — and yet when was the last time you were in a seminar exclusively devoted to the art of listening? Tim shares take-away strategies, tips, and tools that he has learned from others, and some that he has developed on his own. In addition, he also recommends self-help resources.
